Fair Lawn Library Chess Lesson
(February 2026)
The Chess Bros continued our second month of lessons at the Fair Lawn Public Library, and the atmosphere was electric. Our students continued to amaze us with their infectious energy and thoughtful questions. We capped off the February sessions with an intense mini-tournament, where the kids put their new strategies to the test. From brilliant tactics to great sportsmanship, the growth we’re seeing in person is unmatched.
Fair Lawn Library Chess Lesson

Partnering with Fair Lawn Public Library, The Chess Bros is excited to return to in-person lessons. Unlike online sessions, meeting face-to-face brings a different level of connection and energy. Seeing the enthusiasm on each student’s face reminds us why we do this: nurturing curiosity and passion that drive our mission forward as a new year’s goal. Every session is a full house, filled with focus, excitement, and a shared love for learning through chess. We’ll be continuing in February. Join us!
Hsinchu Online Chess Workshop
(November 2025)
After weeks of careful planning by our Taiwan Director and Asia Pacific Program Coordinator, The Chess Bros hosted an online workshop that engaged students of varied ages from middle school to graduate school! Participants took part in interactive lessons, and guided analyses designed to strengthen their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Beyond teaching the fundamentals of chess, The Chess Bros encouraged students to step into leadership roles, share their insights, and learn from one another. The discussion also touched on school life and personal growth, inspiring students to connect lessons from chess to their academic and everyday challenges.
Hanoi Community Involvement

The Chess Bros’ Vietnam Director has been a dedicated and active contributor to Hanoi’s chess community. In August, he served as a Tournament Director for both a FIDE-rated event and an IM/GM title championship. By engaging deeply with the local chess community, he has fostered growth and enthusiasm for the game, creating a meaningful impact that aligns perfectly with The Chess Bros’ mission of empowering young minds through chess.
New Jersey Community Involvement

This summer, The Chess Bros’ co-founder and VP brought chess to life for local kids! With an encouraging and hands-on approach, he inspires young minds to think strategically, stay confident, and fall in love with the game—all while making a lasting impact on the community.
Chess Workshop in Kirkland & Redmond, WA
(August 2025)
The Chess Bros brought the joy of chess to young minds in Kirkland and Redmond, WA, hosting free community workshops at the local library and a residence home. In Kirkland Library, around ten eager students gathered to learn and play. In Redmond, the atmosphere was equally vibrant, with young learners fully engaged and having fun while sharpening their thinking skills. Coach Jody presented small gifts as both encouragement for the students and a token of appreciation for being invited as a guest instructor.
Chess Workshop in Bishkek
(August 2025)
The Chess Bros proudly hosted our first-ever chess workshop in Central Asia — Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan! From total beginners to seasoned players, participants came together for a day of learning, strategy, and fun. We not only promoted the beauty of chess but also grew our team by recruiting passionate local staff. A successful launch that marks the beginning of many more moves to come!
Chess in the Park - Bishkek Edition

Chess is deeply rooted in Kyrgyz culture, and The Chess Bros experienced it firsthand in the heart of Bishkek. Surrounded by locals and vibrant energy, we joined spontaneous games in the city’s central park—where chess isn’t just a game, it’s a way of life.
Chess Lesson in Hanoi

Led by our Vietnam Director, the weekly session in Hanoi is designed to empower young students to use chess as a tool to unlock their potential. Through guided lessons, tactical exercises, and engaging gameplay, students not only sharpen their strategic thinking but also build focus, confidence, and resilience.

The Chess Bros led a two-month chess program at the Fair Lawn Library, with both months reaching full capacity. Each session began with interactive puzzle-solving, encouraging students to think critically and teach their peers through demonstration. The energy and engagement were high, with students eager to learn and participate. Members of the Fair Lawn High School Chess Club joined the effort, helping to foster a supportive, skill-building environment. At the end of each month, top students were recognized not just for winning games, but for displaying strong character—earning points through good manners, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The Chess Bros’ founder and president spent a brilliant summer engaging with local students, sharing the joy and passion of chess. Through fun and interactive lessons, The Chess Bros aims to help children develop strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, encouraging them to approach challenges with confidence. Summer is the perfect opportunity for young minds to sharpen their thinking and exercise their brains in an enjoyable, meaningful way.
Taiwan Summer Chess Camp
(Summer 2023)
The Chess Bros brought a free summer chess camp to Long-Tien Elementary School, a small rural school in Taitung, Taiwan, with fewer than 50 students. The camp served around 25 indigenous students in grades 2 through 6, many of whom come from families where parents work long hours and have limited resources. The Chess Bros taught the kids everything from the basics to tactical play, making chess fun and accessible. To ensure long-term impact, they also helped launch the school’s first chess club using free online platforms like Lichess.org.
Passaic County Chess Workshop
(Summer 2023)
The Chess Bros partnered with the Fair Lawn High School Chess Club to host a free chess workshop at School #21 in Passaic County, NJ, as part of the school’s summer enrichment program. Aimed at introducing chess to young students—many of whom had never played before—the workshop focused on teaching basic moves, strategies, and proper chess etiquette, while emphasizing respect, focus, and sportsmanship. The hands-on, interactive sessions sparked strong interest and engagement. For many students, it was their first time learning chess in a supportive environment. Several participants continued playing beyond the workshop, with some even joining online platforms to keep improving.
Fair Lawn High School Chess Tournament
(Winter 2022 & Spring 2023)
The Chess Bros organized fundraising chess tournaments at Fair Lawn High School to raise money for purchasing new chess sets for children in need. With strategic outreach and strong community support, the tournaments were a success—attracting enthusiastic players from diverse skill levels. Each participant contributed a small entry fee, and the top three winners received monetary prizes. To ensure fairness, pairings were carefully managed based on players’ experience. Participants shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, and many encouraged their friends to join the chess club!
Private Chess Tutor
(Winter 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022)
We offer private 1:1 chess tutoring tailored to each student’s level, goals, and learning pace. As young human beings ourselves, we understand how our peers think, what keeps them engaged, and how to make learning both fun and effective. With experience and passion for the game, The Chess Bros creates a supportive, relatable environment where students can build a strong foundation, master strategy, and gain confidence—on and off the board.
